Tips on quality and MD inspection

Well prepared for the inspection.

A quality inspection is no state of emergency if the records are right in daily work. These points help with preparation.

  1. Know the notice period

Since 30 July 2026, regular inspections of home care services have generally been announced two working days in advance (quality inspection guidelines, part 1a). Use the time for organisation, not for catching up on documentation.

  2. Keep an inspection folder ready

Keep the most important documents together: care contract, proof of qualifications, shift and round plans, QM manual, hygiene plan, training records and emergency plan.

  3. Note the new quality reporting

Since 1 July 2026, the new quality reporting agreement has applied to home care. Familiarise yourself with the information your service has to provide for it.

  4. Keep documentation up to date

Work with the structural model and the SIS. Keep the care measures plan up to date and use the report sheet mainly to record deviations and changes.

  5. Embed expert standards in the team

The DNQP expert standards - for example on fall prevention, pressure ulcer prevention, pain management or nutrition management - should be known in the team. Short case discussions help more than thick folders.

  6. Practise internally

An internal audit with a colleague from outside reveals gaps before the inspection comes. Write down what you will improve and by when.

  7. Take complaints seriously

Simple complaint management with fixed responses shows that your service learns from feedback.
